FAQ

Is Wi-Fi available in the hotel rooms?

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Just accept the terms and conditions and you will be connected to the internet.

Can I have an extra bed in the room?

If you wish to book a cot, please contact us by phone or e-mail. The cost for placing a cot is 15 euros per night. This is possible for children up to 2 years old. Please note, baby cots cannot be placed on every room type for safety reasons.

An additional bed can be booked for children aged 3 to 12 years or for guests over 12 years old.

The charge for an extra bed is €55 per day. This is upon request and only possible on the Empire Room and Suites.

What is the check-in policy?

From 15:00 your room will be ready and you are welcome at Grand Hotel Karel V.

If the occasion arises that you arrive earlier and the room is not ready yet, you can already leave your luggage with our porter and check in. In the meantime, you can explore the city and enjoy all that Utrecht has to offer!

What is the check-out policy?

You can use the room until 12:00.

If you would like to check out later, this is subject to availability. You can extend your use of the room free of charge until 13:00 – 14:00.

Can I check-out later?

A late check-out is possible based on availability for 50% of the room rate. If the late check-out is after 6pm, we will charge the full room rate.

On Sundays and holidays, you can book our Lazy Sunday package for €25 upon availability. The Lazy Sunday package allows you to check-out until 5pm.

Can I inform you of my room preference?

If you have a preference for example for a quiet room, garden view, view on the ‘domtoren’, high/low floor or a room with balcony, please contact our reservations department.

We can make a note in your reservation of your preference. We will do our best to accommodate your request, however, we cannot guarantee this due to availability.

Is breakfast included with my overnight stay?

Check your reservation to see if you have booked breakfast. You can also check this if you have booked through an online booking site.

Is it not included in your reservation and do you still want breakfast? No problem! Breakfast is €26.50 per adult and €15 per child from 4 to 12 years old, free for children under 4 years old.

I am visiting with my family, can we stay in one room with the whole family?

Grand Hotel Karel V has one family suite, which can accommodate a maximum of four people.

If this family suite is not available, we can help you look for other options. An extra bed can be put on an empire room, which can accommodate a maximum of 3 persons.

Can I spend the night at Grand Hotel Karel V as an invalid?
